SOUTH COUNTY / HOME ADDITIONS + RENOVATIONS

Home Additions & Renovations in South County, Rhode Island.

The Kirchoff Group plans and builds substantial home additions and renovations for South County, Rhode Island homeowners. We connect the new work to the existing house, coordinate structural and site questions, and develop a practical path from scope and budget to construction.

Tell us your property location and what you want to change. Finished plans are welcome, but not required.

SOUTH COUNTY FOCUS

A more useful home, built around what is already there.

We focus on South Kingstown, Narragansett, North Kingstown, Charlestown, Westerly and select nearby coastal Rhode Island communities. An addition or renovation begins with the existing structure, property conditions and the way your household needs the space to work. Share the address and intended scope so we can review project fit.

THREE EARLY DECISIONS

Make the new work feel at home.

01 / LOCATION

Start with the existing house.

The current layout, framing, foundation, utilities and site access shape what an addition or renovation can accomplish. We review what is known and identify the conditions that need more investigation.

02 / PROGRAM

Plan the connection.

A well-considered project joins old and new in circulation, structure, rooflines, materials and daily use. Coastal exposure and moisture management may also affect the details on a particular property.

03 / PROCESS

Define the scope and sequence.

We connect design decisions to budget, approvals and the construction sequence. When structural engineering or other specialist input is needed, we coordinate it with the proposed work rather than guessing at unseen conditions.

HOW WE APPROACH IT

Good planning makes the work clearer.

An early conversation can establish the property, goals, available plans, timing and budget range before the project becomes a defined construction scope.

BUILT IN RHODE ISLAND

Warwick Neck: an outdoor space renewed.

In Warwick Neck, we rebuilt and expanded an existing coastal deck, retained sound framing, corrected structural problems and brought the new work into a consistent finished plane. This is a Rhode Island example of careful work with an existing structure.

RENOVATION EXPERIENCE / WISCONSIN

A whole-house and garage transformation.

Our Oconomowoc, Wisconsin project shows substantial work on an existing home and garage. The garage portion involved repair of roof rafters and perimeter framing, followed by a new door, siding and roof. The case study shows the work during construction and the completed exterior; it is portfolio history from Wisconsin, not a Rhode Island project.

BEFORE WE TALK

Start with the address and the goal.

Tell us where the home is, which spaces you want to add or change, why the current layout no longer works, and any timing and budget goals. Photos, drawings or reports help if you have them. We can begin with an idea and identify what needs review.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A clearer starting point.

01

Do I need finished plans for an addition?

No. Share the property and goals to start. If you already have architect drawings, include them so we can discuss scope, feasibility and the next coordination step.

02

Can we stay in the home during renovation?

That depends on the work area, temporary support, utility interruptions and safe access. Occupancy needs to be reviewed for the particular project.

03

What if hidden structural conditions appear?

Existing buildings can reveal conditions after selective opening. We document what is found, review the effect on scope and discuss the available response before additional work is defined.

04

Which Rhode Island towns do you serve?

Our South County focus includes South Kingstown, Narragansett, North Kingstown, Charlestown and Westerly, with select nearby coastal communities considered based on scope and availability.
