BEHIND THE BUILD

Project story

A whole-house renovation and bedroom expansion in Yucca Valley required a larger onsite wastewater treatment system. In fall 2023, TKG was engaged specifically as the excavation subcontractor for this residential sitework. Matt Kirchoff operated the excavator for the new septic tank pit, incoming sewer lateral trenches, distribution box and approximately 300 linear feet of leach-field trench. The leach-field trenches were roughly three feet wide and seven feet deep. The architect-owner clients retained responsibility for the system design, engineering, permitting and related technical decisions. TKG's role was excavation; this case study does not represent a complete septic-system installation by TKG. The project demonstrates hands-on equipment-operation capability alongside construction coordination. The photos show the site, excavation equipment, trench geometry and a later installation stage for context.
